For many, New Years Eve is the most awaited holiday of the year. It is a time for attending parties and celebrations with family, friends and loved ones. Attending New Years Eve parties are a fun, interesting & exciting way to welcome in the new year. However, have you considered how much more fun you could have by hosting your own New Years Eve party?

To be honest, planning a fantastic New Years Eve celebration involves plenty of work but the enjoyment shared by you, your family, friends & guests will be worth the effort!

Okay, so you are starting to think about plans for a New Years Eve party, well have no worries. This article will provide you with some basic guidelines for planning an excellent New Years Eve get together. Whether you are a seasoned party planning veteran or are putting together your first party, you will find these guidelines helpful during your preparations.

Let’s get the ball rolling! The initial step in party planning is the guest list. The guest list is critical as it will help you to generate ideas on where the party should be held. For example, if you live in a rather small home or apartment and your list contains around 80 guests, you will most certainly need to find a larger, more suitable location. Furthermore, when devising your guest list, it almost goes without saying that each guest will likely bring a date to accompany them.

Another aspect of party planning is the method in which you will offer invitations to your guests. There are a wide variety of choices when it comes to preparing party invitations, however, tradition calls for sending out invitations by mail. Of course, your party invitations must include the basic information about the event, such as the date, time, location and details on how to accept the invite.

In addition, be sure to add a deadline for accepting the invite and a method of replying – by phone, email, etc… Other acceptable methods for offering party invites include calling guests by telephone or sending invitations by email.

After you have settled on the number of guests and where the party will be held, you can move on to planning the food and drink menu. The majority of New Years Eve parties begin around 9pm. Because of this late evening starting time, light appetizers and cocktails make for a superb choice for your event. If you decide to start your party at an earlier time, a buffet style menu or even a sit down should be considered.

Another New Years Eve party alternative might be to make it a brunch event on New Years Day. You can offer your guests simple finger foods, appetizers and drinks from evening till early morning. Then, at first sunrise, everyone can enjoy a light breakfast.

Finally, don’t forget to think about what type of entertainment you will provide for your guests. A band? A DJ? Recorded music? Perhaps you could hire an entertainer such as a comedian or a magician.

However you decide to proceed, planning a New Years Eve party is a worthwhile experience. Your family and friends will appreciate the time and effort you have put in to make their New Years Eve special and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have brought much joy and happiness to your loved ones and guests. Good Luck!
